You belong somewhere you feel free

On the days that I’m up with the dawn, I love to brew a cuppa and watch the sunrise over the hills in front of our house. The sky can be so magical at this time of day, weaving pinks, purples, and oranges into layers of clouds that dip down to caress the countryside. It’s often in these quiet moments when the rest of the house is asleep that I feel the most connected to Mum, like she’s creating these private colour palettes just for me to capture, guiding my next creative move. Looking out across our farm I feel free, not another soul is awake yet and the demands of the day are yet to begin. For the briefest of moments, it’s just the two of us smiling at the clouds.
