WILDSCAPES

'Wildscapes' is a series of pastel works capturing the unique luminosity and vastness of the wildness of our landscape.
This landscape collection is a representation of the beauty, vastness and colour of land, sea and sky.
Focusing on the regional areas of New South Wales, I have endeavoured to interpret the emotional resonance this landscape provides and the connection this environment and country invokes in our human spirit. Through the medium of Pastel my desire for this collection has been to provide visual responses to our natural world aiming to reconnect all of us with the earth and the simplicity found in the beauty of our natural world.
Fiona Kent is a visual artist based in Sydney, N.S.W. Primarily utilising Pastel, but also diversifying into the inclusion of ink, printmaking, charcoal and collage, her work aims to provide opportunities for personal and global responses to environment. An absence of self or narrative is most usually omitted from any representation allowing the viewer to fulfil their own personal narrative and reactionary sense of self within the interpreted landscapes in response. Through the visualexchange and exploration of colour expression, luminosity and mark making, beneath the beauty and the ‘wild’ of the Australian landscape, or any landscape, there always lies hope for a less exploitative future and for all of us to find our personal connection to the land.
